Many of us have experienced, and suffered, from seasonal sinus infections
this fall and winter. Now that we have evolved into another new year,
I thought I would educate you on "new" chiropractic health
care philosophies that can help you prevent, and treat, sinus infections.
These "new" forms of treatment have actually been around
for over a 100 years, focusing on the body’s ability to come
alive, fight the bacterial and viral invasion, and heal itself.
Chiropractic adjustments to the neck and base of the skull help alleviate
the signs and symptoms associated with sinus blockage. When our sinuses
are clogged with mucus from bacterial and viral growth, we experience
pain, sinus pressure, bleeding, runny nose, itchy eyes, headaches,
ear aches, and occasional sore throats. When you release the upper
neck bones and take the pressure off the nerves that innervate the
head and sinuses, the head and neck are able to start the process
of healing themselves.
When you receive an upper neck adjustment, there are many things
that may happen. You will experience a decrease in sinus pressure
with an increase in drainage from your frontal (forehead) and maxillary
(cheek) sinuses. Headaches reduce or disappear due to the decrease
in sinus pressure and the release of the upper neck nerves that innervate
the sinuses and head. You are also able to hear better because the
ears are able to help drain and disentigrate the wax build-up. And
last, but definitely not least, you have a greater sense of clarity
and overall well-being. It is as if a fog has liftted from inside
your head and you are once again able to function.
Prescribed medications are the "normal" means by which
the majority of people tackle bacterial infections. However, most
sinus infections begin as viral infections that turns into bacterial
manifestations. Therefore, prescription drugs are not affecting the
entire picture because they only kill bacteria. Chiropractic care
not only helps with the healing process by reducing symptoms and speeding
up the healing cycle, but it is also used for preventing colds and
sinus infections in the first place.
So, whether you want to feel better now or prevent feeling bad in
the first place then call your chiropractor and experience health..from
the inside-out.
