Love Is in The Hair

No one wants a bad hair day on February 14, but sexy styling is only part of the package for a great look on Valentine’s Day. Las Vegas hair colorists and stylists say this year the trend is to stay simple but pack in a lot of sex appeal that can easily be transformed from everyday hustle to an evening full of love and lustful attraction. Great hair boosts self esteem, builds confidence and demands attention when styled right, according to the experts.

Hair is best managed when kept up to date with trims and color every six weeks. Every other salon visit should include a moisturizing treatment. Five or ten minute treatments that can be done at home are also available at beauty supply houses.

Big hair is back, with tons of volume at the base, a revival of ’60s style, with silky, flowing, loose waves and curls through to the ends which is great for the average day of fast-paced, busy woman.

Women who have short hair and want longer locks in an instant can make their daydreams come true with Hair Dreams hair extensions.

To create angled bangs that perfectly frame the face, blow-dry layered bangs with a brush to the opposite side they should fall and then blow-dry back to the other side until dry.

For the Victoria ’s Secret, loose-waved and layered look, wrap hair from the base to the ends around a 2½ inch barrel curling iron. Be sure not to use the maximum heat setting as most curling irons produce enough heat at around 300 degrees for this particular look.

For volume, use a volume spray like Kerastase Volumactive Spray, then flip the hair forward and smooth over with fingers. Think BIG, then while the hair is flipped, tease, tease, tease!

Curls are the way to go for a sexy look and much more flattering than straight looks. Curly hair should be soft, shiny and glossy. Those unaccustomed to wearing curls should go for a softer curl to transform their hair into the glamorous look of Hollywood starlets.

Another surefire seductive look is to wear hair up, especially if the evening’s attire has a nice neckline. Classic plaits with height on the crown are the traditional choice but asymmetric chignons and loose buns worn at the side of the nape of the neck can prove irresistible.

Women who don’t love their neckline can create a happy compromise by wearing their hair in a half up, half down style with height on the crown.

Rather than just scraping hair back, which can appear somewhat severe, create some texture to soften the effect. Take small sections from above the ears, twist them very loosely and pin them back with the rest of the hair. It’s soft, subtle and sexy, just what Valentines want.
