Detoxification: What and Why
Detoxification is a widely used r removing harmful toxins from the body. Although this method of healing has been around for thousands of years and is very popular in Europe, it is only recently becoming a popular treatment in North America. Modern society has created an environment full of preservatives, processed foods, drugs & medications which are very toxic to our bodies These man made or chemically altered toxins are entering our bodies faster than our body's natural detoxification system can eliminate the toxins. As a result, toxins start to build up throughout the body. As these toxins build up in the body, they cause the body's systems to malfunction and eventually lead to conditions such as premature aging, cancer, auto-immune disease, skin disorders, hormone imbalance, anxiety, headaches, emotional disorders, heart disease, arthritis, Alzheimers disease and chronic fatigue syndrome. To overcome this buildup of toxins, we need to detoxify the body to the point where the body's systems starts functioning properly again. There are a myriad of symptoms that are strong indicators that the body needs detoxified.
Some of these include unexplained fatigue, increased allergies, hypersensitivity to common materials, intolerance to certain foods, indigestion, aches and pains, low grade fever, headaches, insomnia, depression, sore throats, sudden weight loss or gain, and lowered resistance to infection, With the toxins gone, the symptoms go away.
During the detoxification process, some people may have side effects such as fatigue, aches and pains, acne, headaches, allergies and symptoms of colds and flu. These negative side effects are part of the healing process and are caused by a temporary increase in toxin levels due to elimination and cleansing.
For more information about detoxification, you can view many sources on the Internet or talk with your local health food store practitioner or your physician.
