Hot and humid, hard to relax. Sweaty and sticky, got no energy. Want
to go outside, but just can’t get motivated. Sit inside and
watch TV? For the summer?? NO WAY!!
This summer instead of wasting each beautiful day watching boring,
endless television, enjoy the outdoors and nature. Get the family
motivated for summer fun. Learning to cope with humid conditions and
hot afternoons could be easier than expected -as easy as breathing.
Many people breathe incorrectly, using only 10% of the body’s
lung capacity. 10%! Just think of what could be accomplished by utilizing
the other 90%. Learning to breathe more deeply on a regular basis
will restore tremendous amounts of energy. And, it can give better
focus and a deeper understanding of what relaxation really feels like.
This can make a big difference when humidity makes it hard to breathe
during exercise. Runners often agree that breath work inYoga class
seems to help them breathe better in humid weather while running.
By simply practicing 10-15 minutes of deep breathing each day a person
can increase their lungs’ elasticity and help create more space
in the chest for fuller breaths. By stretching the intercostals and
opening the rib cage the lungs will begin to feel free to breathe.
There are many side effects to this simple practice. Deep breathing
benefits adults and children suffering from asthma, allergies and
other respiratory ailments. Improved circulation in the heart and
lungs, more strength surrounding the lungs, and better focus are just
a few benefits to deep breathing. Relaxation is one of the most obvious
effects of breath work. Everyone can use more relaxation. It encourages
better sleep and more patience, helps every one laugh harder and is
a positive vibe that other people pick up on immediately.
There is no pill to take that provides all of these benefits. There
is no easy “fix” to stronger, healthier lungs. Caring
about health mentally and physically should be a top priority in life.
If it hasn’t been, it’s not too late! No one is ever too
sick or too old to start making positive changes in their lifestyle.
Enjoy the summer and keep the breath moving!
