Grant Opportunity

The Belpre Area Community Development Foundation (BACDF) is accepting requests for funding for 2006.

Donnie Loubiere, Chair of the BACDF Board of Governors, says, “Pre-application letters requesting grant monies are due by April 22, 2006. Grant awards totaling about $52,000 were made in 2004 and 2005. The grants to our community are possible because of a major gift from the estate of Dr. William C. Lofty in 2003.” The BACDF is a non-profit organization established in 1990.

Any non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) tax exemption status, governmental subdivision and/or public education institution interested in requesting a grant need should submit no more than two pages documenting how the proposed project or initiative meets the BACDF grant guidelines. The organization will receive a written response from the BACDF advising whether the organization can move to the application process by May 15, 2006.

Proposed initiatives must benefit residents of Belpre, or townships of Barlow, Belpre, Decatur, Dunham, Fairfield, Palmer, Wesley, or Warren. They also must enhance the community in ways that impact a significant number of people, address high priority local needs for community development, benefit a significant part of the community through existing or new initiatives that are not duplicative, link community initiatives across organizations, enhance the skills of people in the community and promote excellence in the arts and other forms of creative endeavors.

Letters should be mailed to the BACDF, P.O. Box 731, Belpre, Ohio 45714.

For more information, contact Leslie Pittenger, Grant Committee Chair, 740-423-4999 or Donnie Loubiere, BACDF Chair, 740-423-9571.
