A Pet's View / February 2006
Year of the Dog
Based on the lunar calendar, January 29, 2006, was the start of the Chinese lunar year 4704, the Year of the Dog, but Chinese astrology uses the solar calendar, so the official New Year is February 4.
In Chinese Astrology, indivduals born in a Year of the Dog are loyal, faithful and honest and always stick to their firm codes of ethics. Though they may have trouble trusting others, they are generally quite trustworthy itself -- except for the occasional “little white lies” told in order to make things go more smoothly. Chinese astrologers say The Dog makes a wonderful, discreet and loyal friend and is an excellent listener. Not surprisinglly, Dog people tend to root for the underdog and their keen sense of right and wrong make it duty-bound to the core. The Dog’s mantra seems to be, Live right, look out for the little people and fight injustice whenever possible.
Feng shui practitioners predict that the fire element will be strongest in the new year, which will be good for renovations, moving, and purchasing property. They also predict that fire-related businesses like restaurants, and the gas and oil industry will also be good, at least for the first six months and that medicine will also be a good focus this year.
