The Humane Society of Parkersburg is celebrating the dog and cat
days of August with an Ice Cream Social on August 10the at the shelter.
There will be baked goods, prizes, raffles and Tebay ice cream for
the participants. Cindy Mowery invites everyone to come by for a lick
and a scoop. "We have all the best flavors, peach fuzzies, strawberry
blonde retrievers, cinnamon mixes, honey bears, vanilla babies, cherry
nose kittens and heaping helpings of love all around.”
The Ice Cream Social starts at four. Anyone taking home a new pet
will receive an additional $10 off their spay or neuter cost. If you
know someone who is looking for love, be a sweetheart and bring them
by the shelter that Saturday.
The Kanawha/Charleston Humane Society will be hosting their annual
Candle Light Vigil for homeless animals at the shelter on August 17
at 7 PM. The ceremony is in recognition and remembrance of the abandoned
and misplaced animals that died this year because no home could be
found for them. Friends and supporters of the shelter take this opportunity
to rededicate themselves to the care and protection of homeless animals
and to vigilance in spaying and neutering. A brief presentation by
the guest speaker will be followed by the candle lighting.
Dogs will be on board for the Regatta parade in Charleston on August
31. The Kanawha/Charleston Humane Society will have a float filled
with canine volunteers to support the theme United We Stand Against
Pet Over Pupulation! People volunteers are invited to help decorate
the float. Please call the shelter to offer assistance.
