Kittens, Kittens and more Kittens
Every animal shelter in the areas is experiencing a flood of cats and kittens as the temperatures rise. Cats are warm weather breeders. Unfortunately, unspayed and unneutered cats mean multiple litters of multiple kittens. A cat can get pregnant again before her kittens are even weaned and have as many as 4-5 litters before fall. An unsprayed female will continue to go into heat until the weather turns cold or she is spayed.
Cats are tidy, quiet and companionable. They don't need a yard, a walk or a leash. Like shoes, they come in an infinite variety of colors, styles and sizes, but they always fit. Cats are entertaining. They like the same books as their owners, the same movies, the same Sunday paper comics. They are happy to identify the most comfortable seat in the house. They can work the keyboard on a computer.
Most importantly, cats make certain their owners never become too self absorbed and keep them humble. Life should be shared -adopt a kitten or a cat this week. Life will immediately improve for both of you.
