CreatureComforts

Work is a walk in the park for Elizabeth Gaul. She is the heart and hands behind CreatureComforts, a pet sitting and dog walking service in Marietta. She walks dogs, changes litter boxes, feeds gerbils and talks to parrots. “We do whatever pet owners need to make their pets comfortable while they are away,” Elizabeth says. “When people have to travel without their pet, whether it is one night or ten, we come to their house, as often as four times a day, to take care of their animals. We feed them, walk them, make sure they have fresh water, clean up after them, play with them and make sure they don’t get too lonely. Older pets or dogs with health problems get the special attention they need.”

Elizabeth has cats and a dog and knows how it is to be a concerned pet owner. “Cats are very independent –the first day or so. But, they get lonesome and they need their own TLC.”

CreatureComforts is especially helpful for working owners of puppies or infirm pets. “We take the puppies out, but we play with them too, so they are getting the exercise and social stimulation they need. Owners come home to clean floors and a puppy that isn’t bouncing off the walls. Adult dogs of active breeds, like Dalmatians, benefit from a mid-day visit, too. Coming home after a long, hard day to a dog that is bursting with energy is hard on everyone.”

Elizabeth says they administer pet medication during the day, too. “We also administer the extra attention that pet owners would give if they could be home. Owners feel awful when they have to work, and their pet isn’t well. We spend at least a half hour with the animal, and often more, making sure the animal is comfortable and tended.”

Fully bonded and insured, CreatureComforts even provides taxi service to the groomers or the vet. “Some people just can’t take off work. We will safely transport the animals and bring them home. Pets get the care they need and the owners don’t have to worry.”

Elizabeth says in-home pet sitting is a major part of the business. “Lots of animals do just fine in a kennel, but it is too stressful for some. Sometimes, the pet would be fine, but it is too stressful for the owner! Most people have several animals that are used to being together. With CreatureComforts, pets can stay in their own home, with their buddies, and their people can enjoy vacations, or tend to family responsibilities, without having to worry or rely on friends and neighbors. We even water plants and bring in the mail.”

The in-home companion animal care is available seven days a week, with rates dependent on number of visits and the type of animal. Elizabeth meets with pet owners at their home for a no charge initial meeting to discuss special requirements, habits or activities. Elizabeth’s work as a veterinary assistant gave her experience with a wide variety of animals and their health conditions. Now, she puts that experience to use in fulfilling her promise to animal loving owners, “Quality care when you can’t be there.”
