Sunday Jams

The Main Library in Charleston will host the fifth annual Sunday Jams series starting February 8. Sunday Jams is a series of five free live music programs featuring regional musicians.

“The programs are designed to allow people of all ages to experience different types of music in a relaxed and open setting," said Terri McDougal, program coordinator.

A musician or group of musicians will be featured each Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.  On February 7, Mark Holmes presents an interactive celebration of  gospel music in honor of Black History Month.  On February 15, Soup Kitchen, an a capella trio, will ladle out fun and great harmony.

Doug Harper, a songwriter, performer and recording artist in the folk  tradition, will present his  special style of songwriting on February 22. February 29 the West Virginia Youth Symphony Ensemble will perform selected pieces of classical music. March 7 Jake Krack, an old-time fiddler, will discuss and perform West Virginia fiddle tunes from a number of fiddlers with whom he has apprenticed.

For more information, contact Terri McDougal at 304-343-4646.
