Twisted Sisters

Since November 2001, two sisters have created a wonderful store in Marietta, Ohio that is called “Twisted Sisters”. The unique boutique created by Debbie Cline and Becky Pritchett has many specialty products that are hard to find. Both sisters are originally from Marietta, Ohio and both worked separately in different types of retail throughout their lives.

In the early fall of 2001, the sisters had the idea to sell air chairs at festivals and fairs. They had been so successful that when winter approached, they wanted to continue selling, but wanted to be indoors, of course.

They approached a local Marietta business owner about renting some space in Putnam Commons, a small mall like office complex in Marietta.

They got the ‘green light’ to go ahead with their retail business indoors and began adding many different and unique products.

According to Debbie, “one of our biggest sellers is our jewelry. We carry Pandora and Troll Breads. They are all the rage now. We have a group of women who come in every Sunday after church and look and talk about their Pandora and Troll Bead bracelets. We also carry Vera Bradley handbags, greeting cards, and many body and bath products. One of our most sought after body and bath product is Honeycat. We also carry hand blown and dipped glassware including friendship balls. These glass friendship balls are hand blown in Canada. Also in our store are candles, beverage napkins, other handbags, and wallets. Our entire 750 square feet of store space is loaded with many different types of unique items.” “Working together with my sister is really fun. We decided early on that when it stopped being fun, then we would stop the business. We also decided that we were sisters first and the store was second. We agreed to not let anything get in the way of us being sisters and best friends. I trust my sister completely and she trusts me completely. It’s a good feeling to be able to share this type of sisterly love and share a business also. We have similar taste in product lines, but are total opposites when it comes to business ideas. It makes us a great match business wise. We complete each other as mutual business owners,” said Debbie.

Debbie and Becky are planning for Mother’s Day. They plan to have a large assortment of great gift giving items in the store for all Moms.

“Moms are very special. And every Mom is unique. We believe we have most everything that anyone could want to get their Mom in celebration of Mother’s Day,” she added.

After Mother’s Day, begins the busy Marietta tourism season. Both Debbie and Becky are planning for the bus loads of people from Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, Cleveland, and Columbus, Ohio.  Both Becky and Debbie participate every year in the Marietta Downtown Merchant Walk event held every June, July, and August.

“We are fortunate to have been born and raised in Marietta, Ohio. And, now we have the awesome opportunity to work together in downtown Marietta. It is wonderful to look out our store windows and see the quaint streets, lamp posts and hanging flower baskets that are every few feet throughout the downtown area,” she commented.

Knowing that you raised two daughters that completely trust each other and who are able to run a successful retail shop together is bound to make any mother proud.
