Knit Version: Size 10 mm (U.S. 15) knitting needles or size needed to obtain tension.

Crochet Version: Size 8 mm (U.S. L or 11) crochet hook or size needed to obtain tension.

Tension

Knit Version: 14 sts and 13 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat.

Crochet Version: 101/2 sts and 5 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat.

Instructions

Knit Version

Note: (yfwd) twice counts as 2 sts.

Cast on 18 sts.

1st row: (WS). Knit.

2nd row: K1. *K2tog. (yfwd) twice. Sl1. K1 .psso. Rep from * to last st. K1.

3rd row: K1. *K2. P1. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1.

4th row: K3. *K2tog. (yfwd) twice. Sl1. K1. psso. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.

5th row: K3. *K2. P1. K1. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.

Rep last 4 rows until work from beg measures approx 34 ins [86.5 cm], ending with a 3rd row. Cast off.

Crochet Version

Ch 15.

1st row: (RS). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in next ch. (Ch 2. Miss next 2 ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch) twice. Turn. 13 sts.

2nd row: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2). (3 dc in next ch-2 sp. Ch 2) twice. 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 2 dc in first ch-2 sp. Ch 2. 3 dc in next ch-2 sp. Ch 2. 2 dc in last ch-5 sp. 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch 5. Turn.

Rep last 2 rows for pat until work from beg measures approx 34 ins [86.5 cm], ending with a 3rd row. Fasten off.

Pom-Pom Scarf To Knit

Measurement

Approx 61/2 x 28 ins [16.5 x 71 cm].

Materials

Bernat Disco (50 g/1.75 oz)

68328 (Motown Mauve) 2 balls

Size 6.5 mm (U.S. 101/2) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Small amount of stuffing.

Gauge: 13 sts and 18 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in reverse stocking st.

Instructions: Cast on 11 sts.

Proceed in reverse stocking st (purl on RS, knit on WS) until work from beg measures 4 ins [10 cm], ending with WS facing for next row. Place markers at each end of last row.

Next row: K1. *Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * to end of row. 21 sts.

Cont even in reverse stocking st until work from beg measures 25 ins [63.5 cm], ending with WS facing for next row.

Next row: (Buttonhole row). K10. yfwd. K2tog. Knit to end of row.

Cont even until work from beg measures 28 ins [71 cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off purlwise.

Finishing: To make Pom-Pom: With RS of scarf facing, beg at right marker, work a running st J inch [.5 cm] from edge along 3 sides to second marker. Stitch across to first marker. Pull gently and place a small ball of stuffing inside to form a Pom-Pom. Pull tight and fasten securely. Gently enlarge the "buttonhole" with fingers.
